We can hear the Word, study the Word, and even know the Word, yet still allow things in our hearts to compete with what God is planting. In James 1:21, James calls believers to put aside what does not belong, humbly receive the implanted Word, and trust its power to produce spiritual fruit.

In “What’s Growing in Your Soil?”, Pastor Steve challenges us to examine the condition of our hearts and ask a personal question: What have I allowed to grow that is competing with God’s Word? Because sometimes we don’t need more seed; we need to deal with the weeds.

As we learn to receive God’s Word with humility, we discover that real spiritual growth isn’t something we manufacture. The seed is good, the Word is powerful, and when the Word is received, it produces fruit.
