40 Day Daniel Fast Day 19

We work for God, but serve you!

1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.
Devotional
I know you have heard the saying, "teamwork makes the dream work!" And, of course, this is true, but what makes it even better? When who you work for is the source of what makes all things work better. Paul, of course, is addressing church issues in this passage, but there is a principle that can be discovered in it; sure, the church needed to grow up and stop all of the factions. (judging on which preacher they liked more than the other), but notice what happens in verse 9a; Paul says, it doesn’t really matter which of us you like more than the other; we are all God’s fellow workers. The b part says, you are God’s field, God’s building. Paul is saying, we are all team members, we all share the load. One person is responsible for one part, and another for a different part. They were all working together with God and promoting God’s purpose; we are only promoting Him. Can I tell you here at CBC we all don’t have the same job? Some of us are preachers, some of us focus on the administration, and others focus on the building being maintained. But guess who we work for? God! And guess who we do it for? God! And guess who gets the benefit? We do! I bet you thought I was going to say you; sure in some ways, but we get the honor of serving the Lord and because we are serving the Lord in this capacity, we get the benefit to be considered co workers with the Lord. Can you spend some time praying for those of us who work for the church?

Challenge
Have you considered volunteering some time at the church?
Have you considered sending a thank you card for those who labor to ensure the administration of the church is functioning well?
When was the last time you encouraged one of the staff members of CBC, or thanked them for the work they do?
Pray
Father, we pray for the staff of CBC; we pray that You would use them for Your glory. That they would feel rejuvenated and revived in Your love for them. We pray that they stay encouraged and continue the work You have placed them on. We ask that as they come in day to day to serve Your people, they remain in the right spirit, ready and diligent to serve. In Jesus’ name, we pray, amen!
