40 Day Daniel Fast Day 20

Keep moving Forward!

Galatians 6:9  And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Devotional
What does encouragement do for you? Do you walk away feeling good, walk away feeling appreciated? Sure, I think the same way myself, but what about motivation to keep moving forward when things aren’t always favorable? What if the encouragement you get is, “today may not change, but sometime in the future, it will get better?” Here is the thing, it may not be the best to say to you while we are in a fast, and some of us are craving all types of things, but can I encourage you with what Paul said to the church? Don’t grow weary of well-doing. I not only want to encourage those of us on this fast, but I want to encourage those who lead in different ministries in our church.

Don’t faint, don’t lose heart because ministry is challenging. Paul encourages believers to persist in doing what is good. Why does he say this to them? Well, because we can’t expect to see fruitful ministry work done without some toil. Paul has the thought of sowing and reaping as his backdrop. Every aspect of farming and planting has some maintenance: digging, pulling, grabbing, all yard work, and when you get to the time of harvest, even that would be hard work. But guess what happens after all of that sweat equity? You will reap a harvest of fruit. Can I encourage those leading in ministry and those in this fast? I am sure you may be feeling a bit discouraged, your body may not agree with you at every moment, your routine may be shaken, you may be craving more tv, more social media, or something else desirable, but can I encourage you and tell you it will all pay off. We will all reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.

Pray
Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness towards us, and we ask that as You are leading us in this fast, we will receive the encouragement You give us through Your word, but we will take that encouragement and encourage someone else. Father, we pray for every ministry leader in our church; as they display faithfulness towards Your church and the people who work with them in ministry, You will fill them up! Thank You, Lord, for all You are doing in our church and the many ministries that lift You up! In Jesus' name, we pray amen!
