40 Day Daniel Fast Day 13

I need you to Serve TOO!

Romans 12: 4  For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function
Devotional
I worked in health care for almost ten years; it was the most rewarding time. I was able to help patients in different ways. It was a serving job, a giving job, a position where you were always asked to do more than what was In your job description. Why? Because it was needed at times. Usually, you don't get into healthcare for the money, you get in it for the love of the people. But you know what? You realize you can't help patients on your own! It would be best if you had others to help assist you. As a matter of fact, you can't treat a patient without a team; you need someone to take an x-ray, you need someone to take vitals, you need someone to check in patients. You see, it's not a one-person show. It can't be a one-person show because one person's job affects the others. Paul says that although we are in one body, we have different functions.

Notice Paul says ONE body, but MANY members. One vision, many people to help bring the vision to pass, one church, many believers. We must be humble and recognize our partnership in the body of Christ. It's not about ME; it's about us. Paul tells us we all don't have the same functions or talents, but we are all in the same body. Here is the thing: parts of our body work with other components of our bodies; as a matter of fact, it needs it. Think about our way of circulating oxygen. You need your respiratory and circulatory systems to work together to provide oxygen; it helps get rid of carbon dioxide. But you also need your lungs to provide a place where oxygen can reach the blood and carbon dioxide can be removed from it. So you see? It's all working in your ONE body! I know you think I am talking about our body, but I am not. I am talking about you and me. We need each other, some of you have the gift of singing, and someone else has the gift of playing instruments! Do you see how that goes hand and hand? But what makes it all sound good? Sound, someone has the gift of being able to balance and eq music well! Saints, we are many members, with different functions, but we serve them all under one body!

Challenge
Are you using your gifts?
Do you have a talent we need?
Can you see areas in the church where we are lacking?
Will you consider serving?

Pray
Father, our prayer is that You would use us all as YOU will, not as we will, help us to see our talents as a gift You gave to be used by You. Please help us learn to support each other in the many different gifts and talents we all possess. Lord, we pray that we will see 50 more volunteers in our ministry to serve this year! In Jesus' name, Amen!
