40 Day Daniel Fast Day 37

Just in case you may have forgotten, we don’t worship on Sunday only! That’s not the only time, and we don’t only worship in the building located on 78th and Cole! It was Luke who knew enough to say, The most high does not dwell in houses made by hands; he was quoting the prophets; as a matter of fact, he said, “Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord, or what is the place of my rest? Did not my hand make all these things?” (Acts 7:48-50) You see, it isn’t the building; it isn’t the day. Do you remember what Jesus told the women in John 4? He said to her before you try to get all religious with me and tell me what you know, let me redirect you to this truth; true worship is not in the place or the day; it is in the way you live. Notice that Jesus tells her that to have true worship, we first have to have the spirit (that’s our human spirit). Jesus was telling her that every believer has the indwelling of the Spirit of God, and then notice he said, along with that spirit, we have to have the truth; having truth means we understand who He is. We worship in truth because God is true! So can I help wrap this up? What is worship? It is how we live out our everyday life in the truth of who God is; God is love; therefore, we are love, God is long-suffering; therefore, we are to be long-suffering, God is patient; therefore, we should be.

Challenge: 
Recommit to worship! Recommit your body to the Lord, and present it as a living sacrifice! If you want to say something to someone that wouldn't honor the Lord, don't. You may want to mistreat your body by doing something that wouldn't honor the Lord, Don't! You may want to give yourself permission to act on feelings that wouldn't honor the Lord, Don't! We must worship in Spirit and Truth!
