Personal Bible Study Guide: Let’s Get Low for the Glory of God

Sermon Recap:

In Romans 12:3, Paul calls each believer to think soberly and humbly about themselves. The grace that saves us also shapes the way we serve and relate to one another in the church. This sermon reminded us that no one is above correction, and no one is beneath purpose. Every believer has a role to play, but no one is the source—we all stand by grace. In this season of new leadership and fresh direction at Christ Bible Church, we are reminded that we are not building ministries to showcase people, but to reflect Christ. Our posture must be low, our thinking must be sober, and our hearts must be aligned with the Word.

Theme for the Week: Let’s Get Low for the Glory of God

Day 1: Recap & Reflection

Read: Romans 12:3; Philippians 2:3–5
Take time to reflect on how pride or self-centeredness may have crept into your thinking. What does it truly mean to “get low” before God and others? Ask the Lord to search your heart. Humility doesn’t mean you think less of yourself—it means you see yourself rightly in light of His grace.

Day 2: Rejecting Spiritual Elitism

Read: James 2:1–9; 1 Corinthians 1:26–31
Do you see yourself as more valuable in the church because of your role, your knowledge, or your experience? Or have you ever looked down on others because they serve differently or appear less mature? Scripture reminds us that God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. Confess where you’ve entertained elitism, and ask God to re-center your heart.

Day 3: Your Role Matters in the Body

Read: 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Romans 12:4–8
Every part of the body is necessary—and that includes you. Whether you’re seen or unseen, your function is essential to the health of the church. Ask yourself: Am I showing up in the way God has called me to? Am I engaged? Or am I withholding what the body needs? Your presence, your obedience, and your attitude matter more than you think.

Day 4: Sober Thinking Starts with Your Attitude

Read: Galatians 6:3–5; Romans 11:18–20
Pride doesn’t always show up loudly—it often hides in our thoughts, our assumptions, and our resistance to correction. Think about your current attitude: when you serve, when you disagree, when you’re not recognized. Are you thinking with a renewed mind, or are you allowing pride to distort your posture?

Day 5: One Body, One Savior

Read: Ephesians 4:1–6; Colossians 3:12–17
The goal is unity in Christ. We are many members, but we belong to one body. This means we must forgive, forbear, love, and pursue peace with one another. Are you contributing to unity or division? Are your words and actions drawing people closer to Jesus—or closer to yourself?

Closing Prayer for the Week:

“Lord, give me a humble heart for the holy work You’ve called me to. Help me to think rightly, serve faithfully, and walk closely with You and Your people. Tear down pride, remove comparison, and let me rejoice in being a servant in Your house. Let my life reflect Christ—nothing more, nothing less. Amen.”
